About the role
A content writer plans, writes and improves the words a business publishes: blog posts, landing pages, emails, product descriptions, social posts, case studies and help articles. Most days start with a brief or a keyword, followed by research, interviews with subject experts, an outline, a draft and several rounds of editing.
Good content writers write for a real reader with a real question. They match search intent, keep sentences short, use a consistent brand voice and back claims with sources. They work closely with SEO specialists, designers, product teams and marketing managers, and they update old content when facts or rankings change.
In 2026 most teams also use AI writing tools. A strong writer uses them for research support and first drafts, but adds original insight, first-hand experience, fact-checking and editing, because search engines and readers reward helpful, trustworthy content, not volume.
