easySales Executive interview question
How do you deal with rejection, for example when a prospect hangs up on you?
What the interviewer wants to hear
- Do not take it personally
- Learn from it and adjust the approach
- Keep activity levels high
- Use data to stay positive about the overall numbers
Model answer
I remind myself that rejection is part of the job and usually not about me personally; the person may be busy or simply not the right fit. After a tough call I take a moment to think about whether my opening or timing could be better, and I adjust. I also look at the numbers: if I know that about one in ten calls leads to a meeting, each no gets me closer to a yes. Keeping my activity steady and celebrating small wins, like a good conversation, keeps my energy up. When possible I ask colleagues for feedback on call recordings.
