easySales Executive interview question
How do you follow up with prospects without being annoying?
What the interviewer wants to hear
- Agree next steps and timing in the meeting
- Add value in each follow-up
- Vary channels and timing sensibly
- Keep messages short and specific
- Know when to stop and respect opt-outs
Model answer
The best follow-up is one the prospect agreed to, so I always try to end a meeting with a clear next step and date. When I do need to chase, each message adds something: a relevant case study, an answer to a question they raised, or a short insight about their industry. I avoid empty "just checking in" emails. I vary channels, maybe an email, then a call, then a LinkedIn message, spaced a few days apart, and keep each message short with one simple question. If there is still no reply after several touches, I send a polite closing message saying I will stop for now and how to reach me. If anyone asks me to stop, I record it in the CRM and do.
