mediumSales Executive interview question
How do you work with marketing to make sure leads turn into revenue?
What the interviewer wants to hear
- Agree a shared definition of a qualified lead
- Follow up on leads quickly
- Give feedback on lead quality
- Share customer insights for campaigns
- Track conversion together
Model answer
First, sales and marketing need a shared definition of a qualified lead and an agreement on how fast sales will follow up, because speed to lead matters a lot for inbound. I make sure I contact new inbound leads quickly and update the outcome in the CRM, so marketing can see which sources convert. I give regular feedback on lead quality with specific examples rather than general complaints. I also share what I hear from customers, such as common pains and objections, so marketing can create better content. We review conversion from lead to opportunity to closed deal together every month.
