How do you use call recordings or feedback to improve your selling?
What the interviewer wants to hear
- Review your own calls regularly
- Focus on specific skills like questions and next steps
- Compare won and lost deals
- Learn from top performers
- Practise and measure the change
Model answer
I review two or three of my own calls each week in Gong, usually one that went well and one that stalled. I look at specific things: how much I talked, whether I asked open questions about impact, how I handled objections and whether we agreed a clear next step. Comparing won and lost deals shows patterns, for example that I rushed to the demo in lost deals. I also listen to top performers handling situations I find hard, like pricing questions, and borrow their phrasing. Then I choose one skill to practise for a couple of weeks and ask my manager to listen for it. Measuring things like meeting-to-opportunity conversion tells me whether the change is working.
