Leadership wants you to triple content output next quarter with the same budget. How do you respond?
What the interviewer wants to hear
- Clarify the goal behind the request
- Show the trade-offs with data on past content
- Propose ways to scale responsibly, such as repurposing and refreshing
- Protect quality standards and avoid scaled low-value content
- Agree success metrics tied to business outcomes
Model answer
I would first ask what the goal is, because tripling output is a means, not an end. Usually the real goal is more leads or traffic. Then I would bring data: which past pieces drove results and how much effort they took. Often a small share of content drives most value. I would propose a plan that increases impact, not just volume: refreshing high-potential old posts, repurposing strong pieces into email, social and video scripts, using AI carefully for research and first drafts, and templates for repeatable formats. I would be clear about what we will not do, such as publishing thin pages at scale, which can harm search visibility and trust. Finally I would agree metrics like qualified traffic, sign-ups and pipeline, so success is measured by outcomes rather than article count.
