Model answer
At my last job I was writing a 4,000 word industry report for a launch event. Three days before the deadline, the expert who had to review the data fell ill. I told my manager the same day instead of waiting. I gave two options: launch with a shorter summary version that I could fully verify from public sources, or delay the full report by a week. We chose the summary for the event and released the full report the next week with an email to attendees, which actually gave us a second promotion moment. I learned to plan reviews with a backup reviewer and to build buffer time into long projects. Since then I share risk early, which has made deadlines much less stressful for everyone.
