Your company is expanding to a new country and language. How would you plan the content?
What the interviewer wants to hear
- Research the local audience, search behaviour and competitors
- Decide what to translate, localise, transcreate or create new
- Work with native writers and local experts
- Adapt examples, currency, regulations and tone
- Handle technical SEO and measure separately
Model answer
I would start with local research rather than translating everything. Keyword research in the local language shows what people search for, which is often different from direct translations of our English keywords. I would also study local competitors and the questions customers ask sales teams there. Then I would sort content: core product and help pages get professional translation and review, campaigns and taglines get transcreation, and some topics need new content because of local regulations, payment methods or culture. Native writers and a local reviewer are essential, and I would update the style guide with local tone and terms. Technically, the SEO team sets up hreflang and local URLs. Finally I would measure the new market separately, with its own goals, because early results build slowly.
