How do you manage several writing projects with overlapping deadlines?
What the interviewer wants to hear
- Keep all tasks and deadlines in one system
- Break projects into steps and estimate time
- Prioritise by deadline and impact
- Communicate early if a date is at risk
- Batch similar work and protect focus time
Model answer
I keep every project in one place, usually a Notion or Trello board, with the deadline, the stakeholder and the next step. I break each piece into research, outline, draft and edit, and estimate hours for each, so I can see when deadlines really collide. Then I prioritise by date and by impact, for example a launch page before a routine blog post. I block focus time in my calendar for drafting and batch smaller tasks like meta descriptions together. If I see a conflict, I raise it early with the people involved and suggest options, such as a shorter first version or moving a less urgent piece. Telling someone three days ahead is much better than missing the deadline silently.
