A large customer bought 500 licences but only 150 are active after three months. How would you drive adoption?
What the interviewer wants to hear
- Diagnose where and why adoption is low
- Align with the sponsor on goals and rollout
- Use champions in each team
- Provide targeted training and in-app guidance
- Track progress and report it
Model answer
I would start by diagnosing the gap. Usage data shows which teams, regions or roles are inactive, and short conversations tell me why: no training, no clear reason to use it, technical blockers or a competing old tool. Then I would meet the executive sponsor to re-confirm the goals and agree a rollout plan with target dates, because adoption needs internal backing, such as switching off the old tool. In each team I would recruit a local champion and give them early training and materials. Training would be role-specific and short, supported by in-app guides and office hours. I would track active users and key feature use weekly, share progress with the sponsor, and celebrate teams that reach the target.
