You must hire for the same role in India, the UAE and Germany. What would you plan differently for each country?
What the interviewer wants to hear
- Different labour and data protection laws
- Different salary norms, benefits and notice periods
- Different channels and candidate expectations
- Visa or work permit considerations
- Consistent core assessment with local adaptation
Model answer
I would keep one core process, the same competencies and structured interviews, but adapt everything around it. Legally, Germany falls under GDPR and new EU pay transparency rules, so we would share pay ranges and handle data carefully, while India has the DPDP Act and the UAE its own labour and data laws. Pay is quoted differently: CTC in India, often monthly with allowances in the UAE, and annual gross in Germany, with different benefits. Notice periods vary, often 60 to 90 days in India and up to three months in Germany. Sourcing channels differ too, such as Naukri in India, LinkedIn and Bayt in the UAE, and LinkedIn and XING in Germany. I would also check visa needs and whether we have a local entity or need an employer of record, and use local advisers.
