Write the outline of a system prompt for a banking support assistant. What sections would it include and why?
What the interviewer wants to hear
- Role, audience and goals
- Scope: what it can and cannot help with
- Tone and style rules
- Safety and compliance rules, escalation to humans
- Tool use and output format guidance
Model answer
I would structure it in clear sections. First, role and goal: a support assistant for the bank retail customers, helping them solve account and card questions quickly. Second, scope: what it can help with, like card blocking steps and statement questions, and what it must not do, like give investment advice or confirm transactions without verification. Third, tone: polite, simple English, short answers, and matching the customer language where supported. Fourth, safety and compliance: never ask for full card numbers, PINs or OTPs, follow identity verification steps, and escalate to a human for fraud, complaints or anything unclear. Fifth, tools: when to call each tool and how to explain results. Sixth, output format. I would keep sensitive data out of the prompt itself and enforce critical rules in code too.
Can you answer it under time pressure?
Take a timed medium round and get scored on every answer.
