Model answer
At my last company I won a regional retail chain that had ignored our emails for months. I noticed they had opened ten new stores and were hiring logistics staff, so I contacted the operations director with a note about how stock transfers become hard to manage at that size. In discovery we found they were losing about two days a month reconciling inventory by hand. I brought in our solutions engineer, ran a workshop with their store managers, and built a business case in their own numbers. Finance pushed for a discount, so I offered a phased rollout instead. We closed a two-year contract worth $140,000, our largest that quarter. I learned that a good trigger and a business case in the customer's numbers matter more than the pitch.
