How do you use LinkedIn in your prospecting?
What the interviewer wants to hear
- Professional, buyer-focused profile
- Use Sales Navigator filters and saved lists
- Watch for triggers like job changes and posts
- Engage genuinely before pitching
- Combine with email and phone in a sequence
Model answer
First, my profile is written for buyers, explaining who I help and how, not just my job title. I use Sales Navigator to build account and lead lists that match our ICP, and I set alerts for job changes, company news and posts, because those give natural reasons to reach out. Before pitching, I often engage with a prospect's posts in a thoughtful way. Connection requests are short and personal, with no pitch. Once connected, I share something relevant rather than a sales message. LinkedIn is one channel in a sequence with email and phone, and I log activity in the CRM. I also post occasionally about problems our customers face, which brings in some inbound interest.
