Model answer
I start with a clear question, for example why are online loan applications dropping at the document upload step. I write a hypothesis, such as the upload fails often on mobile. Then I get the data, usually with SQL or from the BI tool, and check its quality: missing values, duplicates and whether definitions are consistent. I analyse it by segment, such as device, browser and customer type, and look at trends over time. In this example I might find that most failures happen on older Android phones with large photo files. I would confirm with a few user sessions or support tickets. Finally I present a short story with one or two clear charts, the insight and a recommendation, like compressing images on the phone, plus how we will measure the improvement.
