About the role
A business analyst (BA) helps organisations understand problems and define the right solutions. They sit between business teams and technical teams, turning goals and pain points into clear requirements, process designs and data-backed recommendations.
A typical day might include a workshop with operations staff, mapping how a process works today, writing user stories with acceptance criteria, answering developer questions, running a SQL query to check a hypothesis, or helping business users with user acceptance testing. BAs work in banks, insurance, telecoms, government, e-commerce, IT services and almost every other industry.
Good BAs ask the right questions, listen carefully and challenge requests politely to find the real need. They write clearly, think in processes and data, manage conflicting stakeholder views, and make sure the delivered solution actually solves the business problem.
